    • My Dryer does not heat properly.

There is a vent hose located in the back of your dryer. Just check to see if this hose is kinked. If not, disconnet the hose from the dryer. Move the dryer away from the wall. Run a load of clothes again. Does this correct it? Clean the vent or have it properly cleared out by a vent cleaning service. (DO NOT DO THIS WITH A GAS DRYER)

    • My Dryer does not heat properly PART 2.

The thermostat that is mounted on your blower housing next to the blower wheel could be bad. There is no way to check, because you’re still heating but not properly. So your thermostat will probably read on your ohms meter, Replace thermo if you have check the vent. Also some models have dual elements instead of single. You will need to verify this before replacing the thermostat.

    • My Dryer does not heat at all, not even warm.

First common problem could be the power to your dryer. The first thing you will say is it's been plugged in the outlet since day one. And I will say that's why electricians have jobs and we do too. It doesn't matter how old your house is. If your breaker or fuse is not allowing the other 120 volts to make 220-240 then you will only have the motor come on and not the heater. Your dryer will run on 120 volts but your heater takes 220 volts. You will need a meter to verify this. Install one meter lead into the left leg and the other in the right. You should have 220-240 volts. If you only have 120 volts, call an electrician.

    • My Dryer does not heat at all, not even warm. PART 2

You could have an open heater. Verify you have a good heater by trying to find a break into the heater or using an ohm meter. If you show no resistance then replace. If not go to Part 3.

    • My Dryer does not heat at all, not even warm. PART 3

You could have a bad thermostat. Locate the one on the heater housing. Apply both leads together to test to see if you have now have a heater come on. If so replace. Use an ohm meter you should show resistance to have a good thermostat. Next go to the blower housing and check the other thermostat the same way. If all good go to PART 4.

    • My Dryer does not heat at all, not even warm. PART 4

The only thing left at this point is shorting wiring. And open timer contact, or the motor's centrifical switch is not making up the other voltage for the heater. You will have to call a repair man at this point.

    • My Dryer does not do anything at all.

An open fuse that is mounted on the heater housing will cause your dryer to be down. Find the fuse and jump it out just to test. Replace fuse if it comes on and check the vent for any blockage. This is what causes the fuse to open.

    • My Dryer does not do anything at all. PART 2

Please always check power with a meter. Do not assume there is full voltage for operation. First common problem could be the power to your dryer. The first thing you will say is it's been plugged in the outlet since day one. And I will say that's why electricians have jobs and we do too. It doesn't matter how old your house is. Your dryer will run on 120 volts but your heater takes 220 volts. You will need a meter to verify this. Install one meter lead into the left leg and the other in the right. You should have 220-240 volts. If you only have 120 volts or nothing, call an electrician.

    • My Dryer does not do anything at all. PART 3

A bad door switch could cause your dryer to not do anything. Get access to your door switch jump leads or use an ohm meter to show if you can detect resistance. If no resistance is found replace door switch. Do not leave jumped out.

    • ·  My Dryer has water coming out of the vent hose, what could it be?

Two possible causes. [1] Where the Outside Vent Opening is Exposed, the Flap on the Top may be gone, or not Sealing properly when it Closes, and allowing Rainwater to Enter. [2] The Duct Vent Piping may be partially clogged with Lint, and is not allowing the Moisture to properly vent to the Outside, in which case, it will need to be cleaned out with a Lint Brush or simply replace the hose.
